The construction of the project was started in 1957 and completed in 1968. But its commissioning was in 1973. Cheerakuzhy is located at the northern part of Thrissur District and Southern side at Palakkad District. The Cheerakuzhy weir is constructed across Gayathri river, a major tributary of Bharathapuzha river. It consists of a masonry weir at Cheerakuzhy with a system of Irrigation canal at the left bank which caters 1200 Ha. of ayacut in Talappilly taluk of Thrissur District. The site of the masonry weir is at the upstream of the road bridge of Pazhayannur-Thiruvilwamala road.

The products woven here are noted for their high quality, craftsmanship, elegance and for its durability. To leverage the full potential of this industry, the Kuthampully Handloom Industrial Co-operative Society was established in 1972. Today, the society has more than 814 members and continues to promote and practise this business from their own building in Kuthampully.
Vazhalikkavu is a village in Painkulam, Thrissur district, Kerala, known for its picturesque scenery and cultural significance. It's located on the banks of the Bharathapuzha river and features sweeping green paddy fields, a large banyan tree, and the Koothumadam, a rustic theater where Tholpavakoothu puppetry is performed.
Asurankundu Dam is a small check dam in a picturesque location at northern part of Peechi Vazhani wildlife sanctuary, Machad forest range. It is ~28 KM from Thrissur; in Thrissur - Chelakkara route at Attur take right deviation to dam road and continue for ~2.5 KM and you will reach dam. During rainy season, when dam is full, shutters will be opened and waterflowing out of the dam will create beautiful cascaded water falls! Waterfall will be active only in rainy season. There is a forest checkpost on the way and there is no entry fees. During summer season, entry to dam will be restricted to prevent forest fire in this region. There is motorable road available till the dam.
